Why it matters more
Electric cars wear tyres faster
The battery makes most electric cars considerably heavier than the equivalent petrol car, and full torque from a standstill puts extra force through the tyres. If the wheels are also out of line, tyre life disappears quickly. On some electric cars, underbody covers and panels have to be removed before the measurement can be made – which is why we ask you to call with your model, so you get a real price instead of a surprise.
Keep an eye on the wear
Look at the inner and outer edges of the front tyres. If one edge is more worn than the other, the wheels are probably out of line – and on a heavy EV that happens quickly.

Why do electric car tyres wear faster?
Electric cars are heavy because of the battery and have full torque from a standstill. If the wheels are also out of line, the tyres wear even faster.
How can I tell if my EV's alignment is off?
The car pulls to one side, the steering wheel is crooked when driving straight, or the tyres wear more on one edge. If you notice any of these, book a measurement.
How often should an electric car be aligned?
There is no fixed rule, but since electric cars wear tyres quickly it makes sense to check when you change tyres. After hitting a kerb or a deep pothole, measure straight away.
What if the steering wheel is crooked after the alignment?

Why are vibrations more noticeable in an electric car?
Electric cars are quiet, so vibrations from unbalanced wheels that would be drowned out by engine noise in a petrol car are clearly felt. We balance the wheels and find the cause.
